Skin Care Tip: It's the Little Things

There are many common ways to take care of our skin. I know people have already told us to get at least 8 hours of sleep everyday to help our cells rejuvenate, drink plenty of water, eat right and exercise. However, when dealing with your skin, sometimes you overlook small habits that actually contribute a lot to acne, blackheads and other imperfections. Read on and make sure you avoid these habits:

1. Lessen Phone Time – Your phone (cellular or telephone) can be a breeding ground for bacteria. That is why if you spend a lot of time using the phone, especially if you like to hold it using your shoulder and your cheek, expect breakouts from that side of your face. So don’t do it. Also, make sure you disinfect your phones at least twice a week.

2. Exercise Cheats – We know how difficult it is to find exercise time in between work/ school and a vibrant social life. Thus said, you need to incorporate exercise into your daily grind and make it a routine. Park a little farther. Take the stairs instead of the escalator. Leave the car behind if you’re just going to the corner store. You can even include a little lifting if you want. Regular exercise helps flush out toxins, which will be great for your weight and skin. Lastly, don’t forget to devote at least 5 minutes every morning for stretching. It will help a lot in your blood circulation.

3. Keep it oil-free – Sometimes, we forget to touch up in the middle of the day because we’re too busy. What’s worse, oil can sometimes join sweat and just stays in the face for some time. The more oil there is, the higher the propensity for breakouts and other imperfections. Carry oil-blotting sheets/ facial tissues with you anywhere you go and wipe away when need be. This way, you also get rid of dirt.

4. Mind Your  Own Sheets – The way we sleep actually contributes to our skin’s disposition. Sleep on your back so you don’t have to press a side of your face on the pillow. This will help lessen wrinkles as you grow older. Also, make sure you replace your sheets every 2 weeks. Again, your sheets can be breeding grounds for bacteria.

5. Sunblock is King – Did you know that if you use sunblock everyday, you could avoid getting wrinkles and even have skin up to 15 years younger? If you didn’t know prior to reading this article, you’re welcome. The sun is skin’s major enemy so fight it will all your might! Use at least SPF25 for your face and body.

Remember these little things, do them well and you’ll be on your way to better skin in no time!
