How to Have Pretty and Healthy Feet

(Yep, those are my feet. And my favorite slippers. And my  not-so-flattering jeans.)

More often than not, feet are the most neglected part of the body. We splurge on the latest night creams, sunscreens, and hair protectant sprays but how about feet treatments? Sure, you have been careful, alternating high heels and flats every other day. Is it enough? This article tells you that there are plenty of ways you can do have to healthy and pretty feet. Here are the easy tricks and tips we can do to keep our feet healthy, young-looking and happy:

Healthy Nails Equal to Healthy Feet

Nourish your nails with a healthy diet. Dairy, yogurt, sardines are rich sources of calcium. Folic acid is especially abundant in dark green vegetables and their orange counterparts such as carrots and squash. Omega-3 can be found in fish oils and some plant oils. Vitamin-B complex is widely available in whole grain foods. Regular intake of such food can contribute to the wellness of your nails and your body, too.

Invest in great cuticle oils. Cuticle oils are designed to provide moisture to the cuticle, the skin found at the base of your toenails. Given that your cuticle needs to be moisturized every day, stock up on great, affordable cuticle oils. It is only proper that you pay attention to driest part of your nails and include cuticle oils in your shopping list.

Stay away from toxic nail care products. Harmful substances are discovered to be present in the usual nail care items such as acetones in nail polish removers, formaldehyde in nail hardeners, acrylic monomers in artificial nails, toluene in nail polishes and methacrylic acid in nail primers. When on the hunt for nail care products, consider buying the items that are gentle on your skin. There is also a wide market for natural and safe nail care products.

Moisturized Skin Equals Pretty Feet

Include foot care in your usual lifestyle regimen. Filing and buffing your feet regularly can make a huge difference. Just like your hair, trimming your feet encourages feet growth and halts further breakage. Meanwhile, buffing keeps your feet from forming calluses. Remember to be careful to buff your foot lightly using a pumice stone or a foot file; otherwise you will be adding extra harm to your feet.

Pamper your feet with treatments. Soak your feet with lotions that are packed with hydrating ingredients such as cocoa, shea butter, peppermint, watermelon, and vitamin E. Before retiring for the night, apply a thin layer of your favorite foot lotion, paying particular attention to the heels because that is the area that cracks the most. Pretty feet do not contain cracked heels, and the best solution for this is regular hydration. Dead tired and dehydrated feet will instantly benefit from the refreshing effect of foot lotions. You do not need to spend a fortune for this regimen. If you are on a very tight budget, good old petroleum jelly does the job.

There is no one-time solution for dehydrated, unhealthy feet. There must be a multiple effort on your part; with some help from right foot care products, healthy and pretty feet are only one step closer from achieving. Don't wait for a special event to maintain pretty feet. You deserve them, after all! :-)
