If you happen to see
twisted and bulgy veins in bluish or purplish color at your ankles and legs, do
not panic for those are only varicose veins. When blood cannot flow back to the
heart because of weakened valves, blood is pooled to the legs. As the pressure
shoots up, veins become weak and dilated. Varicose veins do not cause potential
life threatening problems, but the presence of it can lead to other conditions.
Plus, they are not great to look at.
Varicose veins can be
inherited. If your mother had them, your chance of getting varicose veins is
high. Aging, pregnancy, being overweight, and prolonged standing are also
attributed to the increased risk of having varicose veins. Before the veins in
your legs and ankles start to become bulgy and angry, there are simple things
you can do that can prevent the existence of varicose veins in your life. If
done consistently and faithfully, your legs and ankles will be varicose
veins-free for life.
Do Not Stand for Long Periods of Time
Standing for long
periods is one of the biggest factors in acquiring varicose veins. Therefore,
limit standing as much as possible. Even if your job requires you to stand for
more than five hours, take the time to elevate your legs during breaks and
after work. Propping up your legs even for 10 minutes is a big help because it
pumps out the circulation of your poor legs, thus reversing the pooling of
blood.
Do Not Cross Your Legs
Although it is a natural
habit common to women, crossing your legs constricts the blood flow in the
lower limbs. Whenever you find yourself crossing your legs, uncross them as
soon as you realize the mistake.
Do Not Wear Anything that has a Super Tight
Waistband
From panties to skirts, jeans to shorts, any type of
clothing that constricts your waist contributes to the development of varicose
veins. Is it really necessary to wear jeans 3 sizes smaller than actual size?
Wear something comfortable and just your right size so blood circulation in
your legs will not be compromised.
Do
Exercise
There is no other better way to improve blood circulation
but to keep those legs moving. Exercise is like a miracle pill because it gives
you strings of benefits including keeping your legs free from varicose veins.
An activity as simple as walking keeps the varicosities away and at bay.
You’ve seen several killer legs from 40-something women
